What the Christmas range covers
The Christmas range covers thirteen product groups: artificial and desktop trees, tree skirts, baubles and ornaments, string lights, wreaths and garlands, stockings, table covers and napkins, paper plates and cups, banners and ribbons, gift wrap and gift boxes, hats, advent calendars and window decals. That is deliberately broad. Christmas buying is not one decision — a retail buyer needs tree and table and gifting and window in the same season, and ordering them from four suppliers means four sets of samples, four lead times and four shipments that arrive at different times. Buying the season from one place puts it all in one container, on one shipping date, against one set of documents. The range is built for importers, retail chains, garden and home centres, party wholesalers and event companies, and it works on both FOB and DDP terms. Most of our Christmas volume ships between June and September for a November and December sell-through, so the practical question for most buyers is not what to order but how early to place it.

Materials, and where the price difference comes from
Material is where most of the price difference in Christmas decoration lives, so it is worth being specific. Trees are built on PVC moulded needles or PE moulded branches over a coated metal frame — PVC gives you volume per dollar and is the right choice for value retail, PE reads closer to a real tree and is what premium garden centres ask for. Flocked trees carry a bonded snow finish and should be specified as indoor only. Tree skirts and stockings run across short plush, knitted yarn, cotton linen, satin, felt and flannel; plush is the volume seller, felt and flannel the higher-margin retail piece. Baubles are PS plastic or electroplated, matte frosted, sequinned, resin, wood, acrylic or glass — glass is decorative only and needs individual packing, which moves it into a different freight bracket. Table covers are PE for waterproofing or cotton linen for a home-textile look. Plates and cups are food grade white card with or without a PE coating; the uncoated version trades moisture resistance for a plastic-free story that European buyers increasingly ask for. Ribbons are satin, velvet, grosgrain, jute or foil. Everything in one container can be specified material by material rather than bought as a bundle.
Sizes you can specify against your existing planogram
The size ladder is the same one the market already buys, so you can specify against your existing planogram. Trees: 1.2 m, 1.5 m and 1.8 m for floor stock, 30 cm, 45 cm and 60 cm for counter and desktop. Tree skirts: round 90 cm and 120 cm. Baubles: 3 cm, 6 cm and 8 cm — small sizes sell in high-count packs, 8 cm as single pieces. String lights: 10 m, 20 m and 50 m runs; warm white is the default in Europe, multicolour stronger in North America and Latin America. Wreaths: 30 cm, 40 cm, 50 cm; garland: 2.7 m per strand, which is the length that suits a standard banister span. Table covers: 137 x 274 cm fits most six to eight seat tables. Napkins: 33 x 33 cm. Plates: 7 inch and 9 inch. Cups: 9 oz and 12 oz. Ribbon: 1 cm, 2.5 cm and 5 cm widths. Gift wrap: 70 x 50 cm sheets. Advent calendars: 24 days. If your market needs a size outside this ladder, moulds and dies are the constraint rather than the calendar, so tell us at enquiry stage rather than after sampling.
Packing, carton sizes and the freight consequence
Packing is quoted as two layers: an inner bag or colour box, then the export carton. It decides three things at once — your shelf-ready presentation, your landed freight cost and your warehouse handling. Small items such as baubles, ornaments, decals, ribbons and napkins normally run 100 to 200 pieces per inner bag and 2,000 to 5,000 per carton. Mid-sized items such as hats, stockings, napkins and paper tableware typically run 50 to 125 per inner pack and 500 to 2,000 per carton; a 9 inch heavyweight paper plate, for reference, is packed 125 per bag with four bags to a carton, so 500 per carton. Large items such as trees, wreaths and garlands are single-piece colour-box packed and six to twelve to a carton, and a 2.3 m pre-lit tree is a single-piece carton of roughly 200 x 100 x 50 cm. The freight consequence matters: paper fans, garlands and paper decorations are bulky and light, so they cube out before they weigh out, and a container filled only with them carries far less value than one mixed with heavier tableware and ceramic or tin items. Mixed-group loading is the normal way to fix that, and it is the reason to buy the whole Christmas range from one supplier instead of four.
How to order: MOQ, colour mixes and mixed loading
Minimum order quantity depends on the group rather than the season. Small accessories — small ornaments, decals, ribbons — can start around 50 to 200 pieces per design. Most mid-range decorations such as hats, stockings, plates and table covers start at 100 to 500 pieces per design. Themed sets and boxed items start lower in units but higher in value, commonly 10 to 50 sets. Colour mixes are normally allowed inside a design, so you can take 500 pieces of a bauble and split it across red, gold and silver rather than committing to 500 of each. A Christmas order is usually built the other way round from a single-product order: you decide the container, then allocate cube across the thirteen groups. We will load tree and table and gifting and window into one container against one set of shipping documents, which is what makes a mixed Christmas programme work at a sensible freight cost per unit.
Customisation: print, colour and packaging
Custom work covers three levels. The lightest is artwork print on stock items — your logo or greeting on hats, stockings, gift bags, ribbons, tags and window decals. The middle level is colour and material change, which matters most in this category because retail programmes are built on a fixed palette: we will produce baubles, ribbons, table covers and wrap in your specified red, gold, green or white rather than a generic mix. The deepest level is packaging — your own colour box, printed insert card, hang tag and barcode, which is what turns a stock item into a retail SKU. Custom minimums sit above stock minimums and vary by process: print or private label generally starts around 1,000 pieces per design, custom outer packaging around 2,000, and artwork-based items such as gift wrap and decals depend on the printing method. Send artwork at enquiry stage — we will come back on what is achievable, at what minimum, and on which substrate.
Lead time and the Christmas ordering deadline
Stock designs usually ship in 15 to 25 days. Custom printed or private label orders run 30 to 45 days, and large mixed Christmas programmes can extend to around 45 days, all counted from sample approval rather than from enquiry. The reason this matters more here than in most categories is that Christmas has a hard deadline that neither side can move: retail shelves need stock in October, which means production has to clear before the summer holidays, which means sampling has to happen in the spring. Orders placed in September for a December sell-through are late, and the only remaining options at that point are air freight on part of the volume or stock designs only. For a first Christmas programme, plan backwards from your shelf date: allow 45 days production, 30 to 40 days sea transit, two weeks port and inland, and two to three weeks sampling and revision ahead of that. That puts the enquiry somewhere between March and May for a normal European or North American season.
Compliance, split by product family
Compliance is split by product type, and the split is not interchangeable. Items designed for children — hats, stockings, ornaments, toys in advent calendars, anything a child handles — are toy-safety items and are produced to EN 71-1, EN 71-2 and EN 71-3 for Europe, and to CPSIA requirements for the United States. Plates, cups, napkins, bowls and cutlery are food contact materials and need a food contact report appropriate to the destination market, such as FDA for the United States or LFGB for Germany; a toy-safety report does not cover a paper plate and a food contact report does not cover a plush stocking. What is the minimum order for Christmas decorations?
It depends on the group, not the season. Small accessories such as small ornaments, decals and ribbons can start around 50 to 200 pieces per design. Mid-range decorations such as hats, stockings, plates and table covers start at 100 to 500 pieces per design. Boxed sets and themed items commonly start at 10 to 50 sets. Colour mixes inside a design are normally allowed, so 500 pieces can be split across red, gold and silver instead of being committed colour by colour.
Can the whole Christmas range ship in one container?
Yes, and this is the main reason to buy the season from one supplier. Trees and garlands are bulky and light while tableware, tins and gift boxes are dense, so a mixed load carries far more value per container than decorations alone. We load across all thirteen groups against one set of shipping documents and one shipping date, on FOB, CIF or DDP terms.
Do you print our logo or produce under our own label?
Yes, at three levels. Artwork print on stock items, such as your logo or greeting on hats, stockings, gift bags, ribbons and tags. Colour and material change to your retail palette on baubles, ribbons, table covers and wrap. And full packaging — your own colour box, printed insert, hang tag and barcode. Custom minimums start around 1,000 pieces per design for print and private label, and around 2,000 pieces for custom outer packaging.
Are the paper plates and cups food safe for the EU and the US?
They can be produced to food contact requirements for your destination market, FDA for the United States or LFGB for Germany, on food grade white card with or without a PE coating. Please note this is a different report family from toy safety: an EN 71 report does not cover a paper plate. How early should we place a Christmas order?
Plan backwards from your shelf date. Allow 45 days production, 30 to 40 days sea transit, two weeks for port and inland movement, and two to three weeks for sampling and revision. That puts the enquiry between March and May for a normal European or North American season, with the order confirmed by early summer. Orders placed in September usually mean stock designs only, plus air freight on part of the volume.
