Unlike a dated holiday range, decorations sell against every occasion in the calendar, from birthdays and baby showers to weddings, graduations, anniversaries and corporate events, so this range is built as repeatable stock with a long reorder life rather than a single-date programme. Two decisions shape an order: material and pack format. A pom pom is bought by diameter and pieces per pack, a bunting by flag count and string run, a backdrop by printed area and hanging method. The buyer set is wide, covering party and novelty wholesalers, discount and variety retail, supermarket seasonal aisles, online sellers, florists and balloon retailers, and event and venue planners who reorder by the box rather than by the piece. The range ships on FOB, CIF or DDP terms. A first enquiry usually arrives as a colour brief; the useful conversation starts with pack format, carton cube and occasion coverage. One limitation runs across all ten groups: nothing here ships assembled and nothing ships fluffed, so every dimension we quote is a finished size that the buyer or the shop assembles on site.

Materials: paper, felt, sequin, film and steel
Decoration is a paper, textile and film category, and the material decides whether a piece survives one party or a whole season on the shelf. Tissue pom poms are 14 to 17 gsm tissue, die-cut and hand-fluffed; the heavier the tissue, the better the pom holds its round after a week in a warm shop, and honeycomb is the same tissue laminated to a kraft core, which is why a honeycomb ball keeps its shape while a soft pom can flatten. Bunting runs on cardstock, felt, cotton, burlap and foil-look PET film; cotton and burlap carry a heavier unit cost and read as premium, while glazed paper is the volume line. Backdrops are printed on 110 to 130 gsm polyester for a photo wall, on non-woven for economy, or built as panels of sequin, shimmer or silk flower on a mesh carrier. Tassel and fringe curtains are tissue, crepe, vinyl or metallic PET film, and the film version is the one that ships flat and often survives a second use. Arch and column hardware is powder-coated steel or aluminium tube with plastic bases and nylon strip tape. Table linen is satin, sequin on mesh, PEVA film or non-woven. Ask for a material swatch set before approving a colour, because dye lot and surface finish shift more between suppliers than between specifications.
Sizes and pack formats you can specify
Decoration sizes are quoted as finished assembled dimensions, not packed dimensions. Paper poms run 6 inch, 8 inch, 12 inch and 16 inch diameter, and honeycomb balls run 6 inch to 14 inch, where a mixed-size set is a legitimate retail unit rather than a compromise. Bunting is specified by flag count and string run: 8 to 12 flags on a 2 to 3 m length is the standard photo-worthy strand, while a 6 to 10 m garland is the shop window and ceiling size. Backdrops run 1.5 x 2 m for a single-person photo wall, 2 x 3 m for a group wall, and 2 x 2.4 m as the tension-fabric frame format. Fringe and tassel curtains run 1 x 2 m for a doorway, 1 x 3 m for a full-height drop and 3 x 6 m for a stage or marquee. Arch frames run 2.2 m for a doorway and 2.4 m for a column, and arch strip tape is quoted at 5 m and 10 m. Centrepiece poms and paper flowers run 20 cm to 30 cm and table vases 8 cm to 15 cm. Cake toppers run 12 cm to 15 cm with cupcake inserts at 5 cm. Table linen is quoted by the table it fits: runner 30 x 275 cm, cover 137 x 274 cm for six to eight seats, round cover 180 cm diameter. Specify the finished look you need rather than the largest size available.
Customisation: print, dyeing and retail packing
Customisation on decorations runs at three levels. The lightest is artwork print on stock items: your greeting, logo or occasion wording printed on bunting, backdrops, banners, table covers and cake toppers. Because most of this range is flat, printed and die-cut from sheet stock, print is the cheapest customisation in the party category and the one with the most predictable result. The middle level is colour and material change. Tissue, card, felt, ribbon and sequin are all dyed to order, so a buyer can build an own-brand palette across pom poms, bunting, tassels and table linen instead of taking a generic mix, although dyed tissue carries a higher minimum than stock colours. The deepest level is packaging and format: your own colour box, a printed header card, a peg hole, a barcode and a folded ready-to-hang pack that turns a bag of loose pieces into a retail SKU. Two practical limits are worth knowing. A printed backdrop has to be approved as a physical proof, because screen colour and printed polyester do not match, and print on fluffed tissue is not viable, so branded pom poms are branded on the pack rather than on the pom itself. Packing, carton cube and mixing a container
Decorations are the classic cube cargo of the party category, and freight here is decided by volume rather than by weight. Tissue poms, honeycomb, paper bunting, tassel curtains, printed backdrops and plastic arch bases all occupy far more space than they weigh, so a container loaded with them alone will cube out at a fraction of its weight capacity and the freight cost per unit will be poor. The packing convention is an inner bag or folded pack, then an export carton. Paper poms are commonly 10 to 50 pieces per bag and 200 to 500 pieces per carton; bunting packs 50 to 100 pieces per carton; printed backdrops fold to roughly 30 x 40 cm and pack 50 to 100 pieces per carton; tissue tassel curtains pack 20 to 50 pieces per carton; arch and column sets are bulky and run 2 to 10 sets per carton; table linen runs 50 to 100 pieces per carton. Poms and honeycomb ship unexpanded, which is what keeps the cube down, so specify flat-packed and let the shop fluff them. Because decorations cube out, they should be loaded alongside dense lines, such as cake toppers, letter boards, decals, candles, tableware and small hardware, to bring the container up to a sensible average density. MOQ, sampling and artwork approval
Minimum order depends on the group. Small flat accessories such as cake toppers, cupcake inserts, decals and prop-size cards start around 200 to 500 pieces per design. Colour mixes inside one design are normally allowed, so 500 pieces of bunting or tassel curtain can be split across a palette instead of being committed colour by colour, and a mixed pack is a standard retail unit rather than a compromise. Sampling is the step buyers most often under-plan. A stock swatch ships in roughly 3 to 7 days, while a custom-printed or custom-coloured piece runs 7 to 15 days from artwork receipt, and a full-bleed printed backdrop needs a physical proof approved before bulk. Send artwork as vector, or as a 300 dpi file at final size, with Pantone references rather than screen colours, plus a dieline where the piece is die-cut, because a revised file after the sample round restarts the clock. Production, transit and the decoration calendar
Production for stock designs usually ships in 15 to 25 days. Custom printed or private-label decorations run 30 to 45 days from sample approval, and a full-bleed printed backdrop adds proof approval time on top of that. Sea transit from Asia to Europe or North America is 30 to 40 days, plus about two weeks for port and inland movement. Counted from enquiry rather than from approval, add two to three weeks for sampling and revision, so a custom decoration order placed today is realistically a two to three month project door to door. The decoration calendar has fewer hard shelf dates than a holiday range, but it has two pressure points. Chinese New Year shuts factories for one to three weeks and books capacity out in the weeks either side, so a spring programme should be placed before that window rather than through it, and the spring wedding, graduation and school-event season then loads the same factories from March to June. Orders that miss those windows rarely fail outright; they simply pay more, because the recovery route is part or full air freight on bulky paper and textile goods, which is where margin disappears. Compliance: paper, textile, food contact and batteries
Compliance on decorations looks lighter than it is, because a paper garland, a printed backdrop and a light-up centrepiece travel under different document families. Paper and card goods are generally not toys, but anything marketed at children with a play value, such as sticker sets, animal shapes in a decoration pack or small assembled pieces, moves into toy scope, which brings EN 71-1 for mechanical safety, EN 71-2 for flammability of paper and fabric pieces, and EN 71-3 for migration of elements from paper, ink and coatings; the United States equivalent is CPSIA with ASTM F963. Textile items such as table linen, tassel curtains and fabric bunting need fibre content declared and, where sold into the United States, flammability documentation. Printed polyester backdrops need colour fastness handled as a specification. Table covers and anything that comes into contact with food are food contact materials and need a report for the destination market, such as FDA or LFGB, rather than a toy report. Adhesive decals and static clings need an adhesive and plasticiser check, including phthalate limits on soft PVC film. Products with batteries, such as LED centrepieces and light-up banners, add battery transport documentation. Items can be produced to EN 71, CPSIA, REACH and LFGB specifications for the destination market; ask us for the current test reports for the specific item rather than relying on a category description.
Quality control and five common buying mistakes
Five things buyers get wrong on decorations. First, buying fluffed: poms and honeycomb shipped expanded cube out immediately, so the carton cost per unit rises and the shapes arrive dented. Buy flat-packed and accept two minutes of assembly in the shop. Second, treating every tissue as the same product: 14 gsm and 17 gsm look identical in a sample bag and behave differently after a week in a warm store, with the lighter one sagging and losing its round. Third, approving colour on a screen: a tissue that reads dusty rose on a monitor can arrive distinctly pink, and a printed backdrop shifts with the print profile, so approve physical swatches and a physical proof. Fourth, ignoring the hanging method: a 2 x 3 m backdrop supplied without grommets, a top sleeve or a stand is not a photo wall, it is fabric, and the missing hardware is discovered at the venue. Fifth, forgetting that decorations are an occasion-mix business: a buyer who orders one colourway across ten groups ends up with unsold depth, whereas splitting the same budget across baby shower, birthday and wedding palettes gives the shelf a reason to be visited. On quality control, check flag spacing against the stated string run, glue lines on honeycomb, stitch and grommet quality on backdrops, band tension on arch frames, and that every pack carries the correct count before it is cartoned.

What is the minimum order for general party decorations?
It depends on the group. Small flat accessories such as cake toppers, cupcake inserts, decals and prop-size cards start around 200 to 500 pieces per design. Can you print our artwork on bunting and backdrops, and how should we supply the file?
Yes. Most of this range is flat sheet stock, so print is the cheapest customisation in the party category. Send vector artwork, or a print-ready file at 300 dpi at final size, with Pantone references rather than screen colours, plus the bleed and the dieline if the piece is die-cut. Two limits matter: for a backdrop, a full-bleed print needs a physical proof approved before bulk because screen colour and printed polyester do not match; for fluffed tissue, print is not viable, so branded pom poms are branded on the pack instead. Print minimums sit above stock minimums and are quoted against your artwork.
Decorations are bulky. How do you keep the freight cost per unit sensible?
By treating the container as a density problem rather than a value problem. Poms, honeycomb, paper bunting, tassel curtains, backdrops and plastic arch bases are light and voluminous and cube out long before they reach weight capacity, so we load them alongside dense lines such as cake toppers, letter boards, decals, candles, tableware and small hardware to bring the container to a sensible average density. Poms and honeycomb ship unexpanded to keep the cube down. How long does production and delivery take, and when should we order for peak season?
Stock designs usually ship in 15 to 25 days. Custom printed or private-label orders run 30 to 45 days from sample approval, and a full-bleed printed backdrop adds proof approval time. Sampling is commonly 3 to 7 days for a stock piece and 7 to 15 days for a custom-printed or custom-coloured piece. Sea transit from Asia to Europe or North America is 30 to 40 days, plus about two weeks for port and inland movement. Counted from enquiry, add two to three weeks for sampling and revision. Capacity tightens around Chinese New Year and the spring wedding and graduation window, so book production ahead of that period rather than through it.
Which test reports apply to a decoration order that mixes paper, textile and light-up items?
Different items fall under different families, and one report will not cover the whole order. Paper and card items marketed at children move into toy scope, which means EN 71-1, EN 71-2 and EN 71-3 in Europe and CPSIA with ASTM F963 in the United States. Textile items such as table linen, tassel curtains and fabric bunting need fibre content declared and, for the United States, flammability documentation. Table covers and anything touching food are food contact materials and need their own report, such as FDA or LFGB. Adhesive decals need an adhesive and phthalate check on soft PVC.
